Lemon is a very versatile beauty aid and is worth adding to your beauty regimen. It is known for being an antioxidant, a natural bleach and moisturizer. Below are some tips on how this inexpensive and readily-available fruit can help you.

1. Removal of blackheads
Massage the lemon on the areas with blackheads. Leave overnight and wash off with cold water in the morning. Repeat as needed.

2. Oily skin toner
Blend 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons vodka, 1 tablespoon distilled water and 1 teaspoon with hazel and apply to face using a cotton ball. Rinse with water.

3. Foot softening
Get 3 cups of lemon juice, 6 cups of water, 3 tbsp. of cinnamon powder and 1 cup of milk. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and soak your feet for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water. This will also help get rid of bacteria buildup.

4. Armpit/Knee/Elbow whitening
Rub the areas you want to lighten with a lemon cut in half. Let it sit for a while before rinsing it. Do this as often as possible until the area lightens. One tip for lightening the elbows is to let your elbows sit on lemons cut in half instead of resting it directly on the table.

5. Reducing hair oiliness
Mix the juice from two lemons with a quart of water. Use as a hair rinse.

6. Bleaching/Lightening Hair
Apply lemon juice on hair. It might be safer to dilute it with water first so as to not result in “chunks”. Put it in a spray bottle for more even application and comb thoghroughly. Head out into the sun (do apply sunscreen). You can also blow dry your hair instead. The process is gradual but you will notice it after doing it a few times. Keep in mind though that basking in the sun might make your hair dry.

7. Teeth whitening
Rub half a lemon with some salt and baking soda on the teeth. You can also substitute this as a toothpaste at least once a week. This also helps maintain fresh breath.

8. Nail lightening
Mix 2 tbsp. of whitening toothpaste and 1 tbsp. of lemon juice in the small bowl. Scrub your nails using a toothbrush for about a minute each. Allow the mixture to stay on your nails for five minutes after scrubbing. Rinse with warm water.

9. Body bleaching
Mix equal proportions of lemon juice, tomato juice and milk and apply all over the body.

10. Detoxification and Reducing weight
Start by drinking a glass of warm water mixed with juice from half a lemon every day for about a month. Not only will this help your body detoxify, but also help in weight loss.

Reminders: Lemon might sting your skin. Always test on a small patch of skin first, specially when applying on the face. Do not expose yourself to sunlight when you have lemon applied on your skin.
